Baxter manufactures products in 26 countries. In India, Baxter has three manufacturing plants with world-class facilities where all operations are performed under Class 10000 environment, a global standard to ensure that products are manufactured in a strictly controlled environment to minimize contamination. All three facilities meet World Health Organization Good Manufacturing Practices standards and requirements of India's Revised Schedule M of Drugs & Cosmetics Act in addition to Baxter Global Standards and are ISO14001 certified.
Manesar Plant
The 21,000 sq.m. facility in Manesar employs 129 people and produces IV and PD solutions. The facility is designed for critical processing of sterile parenteral products and includes a central warehouse, technical services, and chemistry and microbiology labs.The site also includes critical batch mixing/compounding operations and specialized packaging capabilities.
In 2003 and 2005 it won the Ecoprofit Certificate for 'Cleaner Production and Environment Management' and was one of the first to be granted a license to manufacture under the Revised Schedule M of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act. It is ISO13485 certified enabling it to manufacture CE grade devices.
Waluj Plant and Alathur Plants
Both plants use the Form Fill Seal technology and Quality Control Laboratories to ensure compliance with chemical and microbiological specifications. They operate in a continuous cycle of formulation, sterilization and filling/finishing activities.
The Waluj plant is a Large Volume Infusion plant on the outskirts of Aurangabad. The over 50,000 sq. m. facility has approximately 140 employees.
The Alathur plant situated about 40 kms. south of Chennai, is an over 40,000 sq. m. facility with approximately 100 employees, and manufactures IV solutions using Form Fill Seal technology for large volume parenterals.
